My country 'tis of thee...

We've had quite a wonderful long weekend and wanted to share some of the activities we've been doing.  Mommy didn't have to work on Friday so we did a small photo shoot.  As Hannah gets older it's harder and harder for her to sit still and she doesn't like looking directly at the camera.  I think we still got some good ones, though.

Then, we were off to Holland to spend part of the weekend.  On the way there we stopped at the Critter Barn, a small petting zoo.  Hannah squealed in delight as she got to touch the animals...they had goats, roosters, sheep, ducks, peacocks, pigs, horses, and some cows.

After fun in the sun, it was time to hit the zoo.  Thankfully we went early to try to beat some of the heat...it didn't work all that well, but Hannah enjoyed feeding the giraffes lettuce, petting the goats, see the tortise and all the other animals.  She did not, however, like the tram to get to wild Africa.  But, her eight month pregnant mommy was not going to walk all that way in the 90 degree heat.  Once the tram got going she was fine, but she did not want to ride.  Needless to say, we didn't ride the train around the park.  One look at that and the no no nos started.  We'll try again next summer!

New bike and Piggies!!

Last Friday was bike day at Hannah's school.  She didn't have one to take to share and ride because her big wheel is just too big and she gets really frustrated when she can't reach the pedals.  She talked all the way home about bikes and pointed out every single bike she saw on the ride home.  Needless to say, the next day we went searching for a pint-sized bike.  She wanted a two wheeler at the store, but we settled on a bright red Radio Flyer tricycle, complete with white and red streamers (they had a pink one, but if she has a brother he probably wouldn't be fond of such a hand-me-down).  She's not gotten used to pedaling yet, but with some practice she'll be tootlin' around Portside Ave (with her helmet on, of course!)

A cute story...last night I was making dinner and had called up to Craig (who is working on the nursery--only nine weeks left, you know) to tell him dinner would be ready in about five minutes.  I always call Craig 'Honey' which Hannah has picked up on before.  When time was up and we were ready to sit down I asked Hannah to go call Daddy for dinner.  Not knowing what she would do, I snuck around the other way and watched her run to the bottom of the steps and holler up "HONEY".  It was the cutest thing.  We stood there together calling for our Honey until he came.  

19 Months

Hannah turned 19 months old last week...how is that possible?  Looking back at pictures it just seems like  yesterday that she was such a teeny tiny baby and now she is a full fledged toddler.  The way she talks and her wide range of vocabulary is quite spectacular and she knows words that you don't ever remember teaching her.  The things she loves most of all is her family, her doggie Ike, boats, bike rides, robbies, flolars (flowers) and playing with her friends at school.  She is such a joy and such a good girl.  She's starting to push the envelope on things that are right and wrong which tries our patience, but she learns from doing wrong and is quite sensitive when she gets into trouble.  In just a few short weeks she'll be in a new role as big sister and we pray that she will do well in that transition!  She is such a blessing to our family! 

Our Anniversary...SEVEN years!

We celebrated our seventh anniversary yesterday and although I had thought I could wait and eat dinner until after Hannah was in bed (for a dinner date of sorts), TuTu had other thoughts.  Who would have guessed 7:00 would take so long to arrive?  So, we ate our delicious dinner on our festive table with Hannah jabbering away eating right along with us.  We WILL be eating alone this weekend for the real celebration...ahhh, bless you babysitter!!

Sum Sum Summertime!!

We've had so much fun so far this summer!  Mimi came to visit and was here to celebrate her birthday, we've been to the pool and the beach in Holland, been all over on bike rides and have seen lots of boats (one of Hannah's favorite things!).  Hannah learned to love the water while we were on vacation in OBX and it only took her a few minutes to remember how much fun it is to play in the water and in the sand.

OBX!!

We just returned from the most fabulous vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.  Hannah was able to spend a whole week with her three cousins and we were all able to swim in our house's pool, go to the beach, visit the lighthouse and go on a Jeep adventure to see wild horses.  It was the most incredible vacation we've ever been on and it was so amazing to see how Hannah grew throughout the week and got more sure of the water and the ocean waves.  We stayed in a five bedroom house where there was room enough for everyone.  It was within walking distance to the beach where we went several days and evenings and often saw dolphins swimming in the distance.  We made memories that will last a lifetime and I hope you'll enjoy seeing some of the pictures we captured along the way.

Time to go home...
